I’m From Post-Production:

Data storage in post-production has an enormous carbon footprint.

Green The Bid post-production members agree to come up with a data deletion plan for stored assets, especially around redundant/ safety copies of the data on servers, on drives and in the cloud after projects have shipped & wrapped.

We suggest archiving elements longterm on LTO tape instead of on servers, on drives or in the cloud, and offsetting all data storage, as this is the biggest waste area associated with the post process.

Our recommendation for offsetting partners can be found here.

Post members also agree to shift to a green in-office plan that includes responsibly managing e-waste and adhering to the in-office guidelines (link to guidelines here).

Understanding green energy plans and compositing will vary by location, Green The Bid is here to help post-production members with resources and collective advocacy for change at the building and city level. Just as post is a vital part of bringing ideas to life, so too is it essential to Green The Bid.
